At Yakima, we believe the outdoors is more fun when shared. The more the merrier. Because the outdoors is not just about the adventure, it’s about the stories told, the inside jokes and the shared memories. Memories that remain, long after the trip is over. It’s been 30 years now, and we not only make safe, secure racks for your gear, what we really do is make room for butts in seats. At Yakima, we’re extremely proud of what we do. Perfect for factory crossbars on 2015 Subaru I just installed and mounted my bike. All works perfectly. I mounted this on a 2015 Subaru Outback, using the car’s existing crossbars (the ones that can be tucked away). Very easy installation (though I suggesting watching the videos on YouTube and Yakima’s site–they’re better than the written instructions for seeing the installation in 3D). The rack is the perfect one for the aero-shaped factory crossbars. The adjustmants possible (moving the jaws up or down, etc.) made it fit snugly and…
Recently updated skewer design ruins the security story for this bike rack. I bought one of these racks in June 2017 from REI, and have used it many times over the year. The rack is a good solution for my Mazda 5 roof bars, though it’s somewhat challenging to get my fairly heavy Electra Townie on and off the car (I’m not a strong person).I bought a second rack recently (December 2017). The new rack has a different “skewer” design than the old one. The old skewer had a “cap” on one end, and the locking/folding head screws on and off. The new…
A good rack with one annoyance. I use this rack to transport a short wheelbase recumbent (minus the seat) on a 2003 Pontiac Vibe. Many cars have crossbars useful for appearances sake only. Luckily a new old stock GM accessory kit containing real…
