Don’t buy this unless you have cross bars. Description says that the product does not require cross bars, but the straps are clearly designed to attach to cross bars. You can attach the carrier to the side rails only, but it takes some contortions with the straps and I would not use it that way for any long drives. I would not purchase this product unless you have cross bars or intend to purchase them. The description also says you can use this product without any type of roof rack. this roof top carrier was the perfect size. It actually would hold more than what … this roof top carrier was the perfect size. It actually would hold more than what we needed. It was difficult to figure out how to attach to our luggage rack. We ended up buying our own pull straps to make sure it was latched down well. We drove in the hardest rain storm I have ever driven through on our trip, our luggage did not get saturated but was damp. There was very little extra noise if any from the carrier.
