Good padding. Ordered size down and fits well; padding stays where it should. So far so good. Went contrarian on sizing and ordered a Medium – ignored the size chart that suggested a Large (I am 36-38 waist) and ignored reviewers who recommended sizing up one size from chart. Great shorts for long rides! I took the advice of many reviewers and went for one size larger than I normally wear. When the shorts arrived they fit very well, so I think that was the way to go. I tested them out on a 70 mile ride, mostly on gravel and packed dirt but with some street sections as well, riding on a pretty broken-in Brooks B17.
