Exactly what I was looking for. To start I should explain what I was looking for in buying these tires. I own a road bike, a commuter that I built myself, and a mountain bike that hasn’t seen much use in recent past. The idea I had was to turn my mountain bike into a “big kid bike” that would take me back to the days of knocking around the neighborhood taking shortcuts through the grass and hopping curbs. These tires couldn’t be any more perfect for that purpose. I’m no longer confined to one type of riding and can…
Great tires, on road an off. Probably want full knobbies in extreme slop, but I’ve never had a traction issue with these. This is my second set of these tires. First set lasted me 4 years-ish(?). Easily got 20K miles out of them (I ride on average 150 a week all year, 15° – 100° conditions (missouri, we get the full gamut). with a brief hiatus when my twins were infants). I don’t do a lot of off rode, which is why I got these to replace the knobbies that came with my rock hopper. Old pair was showing purple. The pic that comes with this one implies the wear indicator is red. I’ll let you know 20K+ miles from…
Noisy and somehow clunky I wish I liked these tires, particularly because the set wasn’t cheap. I decided to use my MTB as my commuter and to switch out the nobbies for something quicker on pavement. I opted for these because they seem, on paper, to offer a good balance of lower rolling resistance and some grip off road due to the inverted tread pattern. I’ve only ridden 30 miles on them so far but I truly dislike them so far. I can feel every inch of the pavement. Lots of vibration and they somehow just feel clunkier…
