Review is related to 2018 Subaru Forester with factory hitch. I was concerned about the Subaru rear door that opens upward and the location of the car’s exhaust (very hot gases pointed at cargo carrier).When installed, the cargo carrier is 9.5 inches from the rear of the vehicle. When opening the rear door, there is about 20 inches of clearance from the bottom of the cargo carrier to the edge of the opened door. Great idea! This arrived today, as expected. I had it assembled and installed in under 2 hours. Since I spent most of that time tracking down the necessary wrenches it only took about 20 minutes of actual installation time. It fits my CR-V quite nicely. It will hold a flake of hay, or a bale, or pretty much whatever you need it to. It also means I don’t have to take the big truck when I drive over to feed the horse. Exceeded My Expectations! I ordered this to help carry items we couldn’t fit in the family car when we would go on vacation and it has worked out great. The carrier is wide, very well made and nicely designed.I like the raised edges, this helps secure cargo but also serves as a great spot to attach straps for your cargo.
