Giro Empire ACC Bike Shoe – Men’s Black/White 42.5
One glance at Giro’s Empire ACC Shoes, and you’ll see they’re different. Rather than the ubiquitous buckle/strap combo, Giro’s outfitted them with something decidedly old-fashioned — laces. That’s about where the old-fashioned nature stops, though. The uppers are a single piece of Evofiber microfiber, which is highly breathable, but is also perforated for additional airflow. Those uppers are attached to an ultra-stiff Easton EC90 ACC Carbon Sole. This sole is among the stiffest available, and due to high grade of carbon fiber used in its construction, is also one of the slimmest, producing a stack height of just 6. 5mm. Between the uppers and the sole sits Giro’s lauded SuperNatural FitKit, the long name for its user-tunable footbed. These insoles have swappable arch support so you can tune the fit of your shoes precisely to your feet.

Empire ACC is a fantastic performance shoe with uncommon comfort for all day riding I’ve been riding the VR90 as a cyclocross shoe for a season and found it to be very comfortable, supportive and narrow in the heal. Over time the VR90 molded to my foot very nicely and I was eager to try the Empire ACC on the road. The ACC is comfortable right out of the box and very light. I’ve ridden it now for approximately 300 miles and I’ve enjoyed it even more than the VR90, probably because its slightly lower volume. I rarely compete anymore, but I still ride hard and try to put-in…
Very Nice. So I didn’t get these because of the whole retro thing. I got these because the forums I subscribe to reviewed them very well. I have had many pairs of Giro shoes and normally wear a 42/42.5 and must always get a 43 Giro.Vanity- I bought the matte black/hi shine black and these shoes look really awesome. If they didn’t have cleats and click like Dorothy they would make a nice pair of shoes. Unlike the previous Giros these were glued and formed without any defects and they seem to be…
Amazing and … tedious This was my first pair of lace-up cycling shoes, and, as I expected, they are super comfortable and super tedious. I change shoes several times a day, and these actually have to be unlaced to put on or take off, even after they’re broken in. Might not seem like much time, but it adds up. Having said that, these are probably the most comfortable, and best performing, cycling shoes I’ve ever owned in almost 20 years of riding road bikes. Is the added comfort worth the hassle of the laces? I guess…
